Exceptional Expertise

When you receive care at OhioHealth, a full range of healthcare professionals will contribute their expertise – from diagnosis and treatment through recovery. Whether they’re familiar faces you see often while you’re here or other specialists, each plays an important role in your care.

Providers Contributing to Your Care

OhioHealth’s doctors, nurses and other highly skilled experts work collaboratively to focus on your unique needs. Whatever your condition, you can count on high-level expertise and dedication from all of our healthcare professionals. We are your partners in healing and health.

Depending on your condition, here are some of the professionals who may contribute to your care:

  • Lab Technicians – Professionals who draw blood, collect tissue and body fluid samples, and perform microscopic tests under the supervision of a medical technologist or doctor. Your doctor will use these test results to diagnose and treat your condition.
  • Medical Social Services (Case Management/Social Workers) – Patient and family advocates who work as part of your care team. They can assist in various ways, from finding needed information and resources to counseling in times of emotional distress.
  • Nurses – Specially trained and educated healthcare professionals who work closely with your doctors. They’ll take a hands-on role in delivering compassionate and expert care, from admission through follow-up.
  • Nurse Practitioners – Certified nurses who have earned a graduate degree in advanced practice nursing. They work closely with care teams and may conduct physical exams, order lab tests and perform certain procedures.
  • Nutritionists or Registered Dietitians – Healthcare professionals who specialize in ensuring appropriate diet and nutrition to enhance healing and health before, during and after medical therapies.
  • Pathologists – Doctors who study samples, such as body fluids, cells or tissues, under a microscope to diagnose disease.
  • Physicians – Professionals licensed to practice medicine who will collaborate with other doctors, specialists and teams while directing your care – from diagnosis, testing and treatment plans through recovery.
  • Surgeons – Doctors who specialize in performing surgical procedures. Many have additional specialized education and training in a wide range of subspecialties, such as cardiology (heart), neurosurgery (nerves, brain and spinal cord), oncology (cancer), plastic surgery and other subspecialties.
