COVID-19 Testing Locations and Information
How COVID-19 testing works at OhioHealth
This page covers how to get a COVID-19 test from OhioHealth, how the testing process works and how your care is affected by the results.
Primary Care
OhioHealth primary care offices provide on-site COVID-19 testing for symptomatic and asymptomatic patients. They are your best resource for COVID-19 care.
Call your physician’s office for details and to schedule an appointment, as we do not accept walk-ins for COVID testing. We’ll provide your results within 24 hours or less (excluding weekends), and often offer same-day appointments.
OhioHealth Urgent Care locations
COVID-19 testing at all OhioHealth Urgent Care locations is limited to patients with symptoms. For asymptomatic COVID-19 testing, please schedule a video visit. Patient encounters will be billed as regular urgent care visits, and providers will order testing if necessary.
Emergency Care locations
We do not recommend that people who only need COVID-19 tests visit our emergency departments. Our emergency departments are only equipped to provide COVID-19 testing in emergency care scenarios.
For asymptomatic patients: OhioHealth Laboratory Services locations
For patients who are not experiencing symptoms, nine OhioHealth Laboratory Services sites will conduct COVID-19 testing. Patients must have a provider order to be tested at one of these sites. Once the provider orders the test, patients can go to any of the nine locations during the site’s scheduled hours. Walk-ins without a provider order are not accepted.

What happens after my COVID-19 test?
Your test results are usually available within one to three days. The provider who ordered your test may contact you to review the results. The test results will also be available within MyChart as soon as they are posted.
If you received a flu test with your COVID-19 test, both results will be posted to MyChart.
All patients should self-quarantine at home until they receive their test results. While self-quarantining, contact your primary care provider if you develop:
- A fever of 103 degrees F (39.4 C) or higher.
- A fever that lasts more than three days without medication.
- A fever that returns after being gone for more than 24 hours.
- Chest pain or difficulty breathing.
- A worsening of current symptoms.
OhioHealth will notify your local health department of any positive results, in accordance with state regulations.
What happens if I test positive?
If you receive a positive result, meaning that the test detected COVID-19, you should self-isolate immediately, and plan to be in self-isolation for 5 days. Stay home from work or school.
- Avoid public places.
- Choose a space in your home to self-isolate in and avoid close contact with family members.
If you had a planned surgical procedure, it will be rescheduled after you have fully recovered.
If you are expecting a baby and test positive for COVID-19, contact your primary care doctor and OB-GYN immediately.
