- When it’s time to deliver
We encourage you to pre-register for your hospital stay to avoid extra time and paperwork when you arrive to deliver.

- When you arrive
Marion General provides free, convenient parking adjacent to the main entrance for all of our patients and visitors. If you arrive in labor, please pull to the main entrance, and you will be assisted. Labor and Delivery is located on the third floor of the hospital and can be accessed by the main elevators.
If you arrive after regular business hours, please enter the hospital through the Emergency Department. You will be assisted to the third floor by the Emergency Department staff.
- When you’re admitted
Our private, home-like and spacious birthing suites are equipped with fetal monitoring technology and the latest in birthing comfort options. During labor and delivery, you are allowed to have one support person in the room with you.
After delivery, you will be moved to a private postpartum room that includes comfortable sleeping accommodations for you and your partner, a private bathroom and shower, adjustable lighting, rocking chair, telephone, television and complimentary Wi-Fi.
- When you meet your baby
You will have the chance to hold your new baby as soon as he or she is born. Following the first hour, a nurse will weigh, measure and perform a physical exam on your baby. Delayed bathing is encouraged to stabilize the baby's temperature. At the end of the 2-hour recovery period, you and your baby will be moved to a postpartum room for the remainder of your hospital stay.
After a normal delivery, we encourage you to keep your baby with you in your room as much as possible to begin the natural bonding process. If you require rest or additional medical care, your baby may be cared for in the nursery near the postpartum room.
- Visitor Policy
Visiting hours are from 11 AM - 8:30 PM. Visitors may park in our free and convenient visitor parking lot located in front of the hospital. The Welcome Center will direct them to the mother’s room when they arrive.

A doula will be permitted for labor and delivery. Doulas must follow the same policies and screenings as visitors. Laboring patients who are minors may have their parents or guardians as visitors, in addition to the parent-to-be of the baby. Care sites with NICUs will follow Nationwide Children’s Hospital visitor management policy.

Our maternal fetal medicine specialists work closely with you and your OB-GYN, as well as experts at Nationwide Children's Hospital, to develop a care plan for you that will ensure the best possible outcome.

Where babies who need extra care in their first few days of life can receive the specialized attention they need to recover and head home.
