Our Maternity Center at Doctors Hospital

The Maternity Center at Doctors Hospital features unique labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum (LDRP) birthing suites. This means that every one of our rooms is fully equipped for each stage of your birth experience and you, and your family, remain in one room for your entire stay.

The Maternity Center at Doctors Hospital is a Level III Maternity Center, with board-certified obstetricians on-site around the clock. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Level III Nursery on the Doctors Hospital campus, owned and operated by Nationwide Children's Hospital, offers your baby the world-class neonatal expertise of Nationwide Children's Hospital and its specialists within the walls of Doctors Hospital.

Based on the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding, the initiative is centered on providing support, information, confidence, and skills needed for moms to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies. OhioHealth Doctors Hospital is the first hospital in central Ohio to earn the designation.

When It’s Time to Deliver

Like you, we want everything to go smoothly — even a step as simple as registration. We encourage you to pre-register for your hospital stay to avoid extra time and paperwork when you arrive to deliver. To pre-register, please call (614) 566.1515. When You Arrive at Doctors Hospital

The main entrance of Doctors Hospital is located at 5100 West Broad Street, west of Interstate 270 in Columbus, Ohio. Enter the front doors of the hospital and take the elevators directly off the main entrance to Labor and Delivery on the second floor.

If you arrive in labor after 8:30 p.m., please enter the hospital through the Emergency Department.

Free parking is conveniently located adjacent to the main entrance.

When You’re Admitted

You will be given a private state-of-the-art labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum (LDRP) suite, where you and your family will remain for your entire stay. The suite includes a private bathroom and shower and comfortable sleeping accommodations for you and your partner. Birthing balls and rocking chairs can be provided for your comfort during labor.

During labor and delivery, two people are allowed to be with you for support.

You are allowed to take still photographs throughout your labor and delivery. However, use of recording devices, such as video and digital cameras, is restricted in the Labor and Delivery and Mother/Infant units to ensure the privacy and safety of you and your family.

Meeting Your Baby

You will have the chance to hold your new baby as soon as he or she is born. Your baby will be placed directly on your bare chest for Kangaroo Care.

After a normal delivery, we encourage you to keep your baby with you in your room as much as possible to begin the natural bonding process. If you require rest or additional medical care, your baby may be cared for in the nursery near the postpartum room.

Visitor Policy

Visitors may park in any area of the parking lot at no charge. Our Information Desk will direct them to your room when they arrive.

A doula will be permitted for labor and delivery. Doulas must follow the same policies and screenings as visitors. Laboring patients who are minors may have their parents or guardians as visitors, in addition to the parent-to-be of the baby. Care sites with NICUs will follow Nationwide Children’s Hospital visitor management policy.
